Jack Taylor was born in America, but spent his career in Spanish-speaking countries as an expatriate. He made his acting debut on an episode of the Jack Benny Show in 1953, and began his ascent into character actor fame with a series of bit parts in a wide variety of movies, including a recognizable but un-credited role in the 1963 epic Cleopatra, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. During this same time, he went under the name of Grek Martin and co-starred as 'Igor' n several bizarre movies based on a vampire character named Nostradamus (!). Regularly cast throughout the end of the 60's and early 70's, Jack found himself quite busy as a working actor, bringing a certain special quality to each and every role, large or small, a sign of a truly great character actor. 1970 saw Jack cast in the role of Quincey Morris in the Jess Franco version of the famous Bram Stoker classic, Dracula. Titled "Count Dracula", Franco's film starred Christopher Lee, who had revitalized both the character of Dracula and the horror genre as well in a famous series of movies about the vampire produced by Hammer Studios in the 1960's and early 70's. Sometimes confused with the Hammer series, this version stands alone in it's creepy yet sympathetic portrayal of the Dracula character, and Mr. Taylor gives a fine performance in a sadly overlooked film. Roles continued to come Jack's way throughout the 70's, in many memorable horror films such as 1974's "El Buque Maldito", which was the third movie in Amando De Ossorio's Blind Dead series. This title was previously shown and available on video in the United States under an alternate title, "Horror of the Zombies" which was heavily cut and made little sense, but may now be seen as it was originally intended courtesy of a stellar digital remastering for the Blind Dead DVD Collection, released by Anchor Bay last year. Jack Taylor continues to act and has been working regularly up through this current year. His most recent film credit is in the 2006 feature film, "A2Z".
