Night of the Sorcerers - Amando De Ossorio 1973 Cult Classic a.k.a. La Noche de Los Brujos

Ruggedly handsome male lead, Simon Andreu has had a long and distinguished film career, making his film debut at the age of 20, in the 1961 film "Siempre es Domingo".  Lead roles soon followed, including a noticeable turn in the comedy/western "Bad Man's River" (1971), in which he co-starred with some of the most popular actors of the time, including Lee Van Cleef, James Mason, and Gina Lollobrigida.

Simon's roles spanned a diverse group of genres, and he proved to be quite capable of comic timing, as well as showing his darker side portraying villainous characters.  He also demonstrated his dramatic abilities to an acclaimed level in his role of Eduardo, a closeted homosexual who falls for a much younger heterosexual boy, a most difficult role indeed, in the tense "Los Placeres Ocultos" (1977), directed by Eloy de la Iglesia .

In 'Sorcerers', Andreu plays Rod Carter, the leader of the doomed expedition who must put up with jealous party members, threats both human and otherworldly, and a hot tempered girlfriend to boot, where sometimes no matter how he tried to make her happy, still invoked her wrath.  A fighter to end, his character manages to survive almost impossible odds, only to discover that there may be no escape.

Beyond "Night of the Sorcerers", he is no stranger to the world of horror,, having played memorable parts in films such as "Novia Ensangrentada", a.k.a. "The Blood Spattered Bride" (1972), and  "Morte Accarezza a Mezzanotte", a.k.a. "Death Walks at Midnight" (1972).

Throughout the latter 70's and into the 80's, Simon appeared in dozens of features and television shows, showing up in many movies that became staples of American video stores--titles such as "Crystal Heart" (1986), " Flesh and Blood" (1985), "Bad Medicine" (1986),  and "Triumphs of a Man Called Horse" (1982).

He continued his successful career through the 90's,  and has worked steadily in parts both large and small through 2006, recently featured in the role of 'Mr. Santiago' in the 2004 film "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason", and prior to that in the role of the evil Warden Brando in "Beyond Re-Animator" (2003), the third in a series of movies based on characters created by H.P. Lovecraft.
